Cryptocurrency investing is now becoming increasingly popular in the UK.
A recent survey conducted by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) shows an increasing number of crypto holders in the country.
Specifically, more than 2.3 million people currently hold digital assets in this country, corresponding to an increase from 3.9% to 4.4% of those surveyed. By the end of 2019, this number was 1.9 million people.
According to the Crypto Awareness Report, 78% of UK adults have heard of cryptocurrencies. In years like 2019, 2020 and 2021, this index always grows steadily
“Cryptocurrency holders in the UK are predominantly male over 35 years old,” the FCA added.
While cryptocurrencies are growing in popularity in the UK, the FCA says “the overall level of understanding has decreased”. This shows that many participants in the cryptocurrency market are still not fully educated.
Based on public interest and media coverage of cryptocurrencies, the FCA commented:
Cryptocurrency is a “magnet” attracting the financial world and the government to participate
Finally, the FCA says BTC, XRP and ETH are the three most popular cryptocurrencies, loved by British investors.
Bitcoin alone is the most chosen by investors with the percentage increasing from 78% in 2020 to 82% in 2021.
