Ukraine e-bank will offer Bitcoin trading

Electronic banking Monobank allows customers to buy Bitcoin with debit card at the end of July.

Monobank online bank recently announced the completion of a pilot integration with a cryptocurrency trading platform. This will allow users to buy and sell Bitcoin with a debit card.

The bank plans to launch the feature by the end of July, after it has been approved by the National Bank of Ukraine.

Launched in 2017, Monobank operates under the license of Universal Bank, owned by tycoon Sergey Tigipko, former Central Bank Director and former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine.

As of August 2020, Monobank’s customer base reached more than 2.5 million people. Earlier this year, Mr. Oleg Gorokhovsky, Co-Founder of Monbank, expressed optimism about Bitcoin.

“The fact that Tesla spent $1.5 billion on Bitcoin convinces me that Bitcoin is a valuable asset,” Gorokhovsky said.

Besides that, he also revealed that Bitcoin now makes up a significant portion of his portfolio and predicts the Bitcoin price will reach $100,000 by 2022.

Ukrainian authorities are on track to implement a series of regulations related to digital currencies.

Last week, Oleksandr Bornyakov, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation, announced that the agency recommended the adoption of an updated draft law on digital assets.

In addition, the Ukrainian Parliament also passed a new law, placing the future national digital currency on par with cash, bank accounts and electronic payments.
