How to export / import an SSL certificate using PFX using MMC Windows

Suppose if you want to transfer an SSL certificate from a Windows system to another system using a PFX file, you need to create a pkcs # 12 backup (pfx / p12). This article will guide you how to export / import SSL certificates using PFX using MMC Windows.

Windows server uses .pfx / .p12 file to store the public key file (public key) (SSL certificate) and a private key file (private key). Certificate authorities (CA – Certificate Authority) provide SSL certificates (public key files). You use the server to create a private key file at the location where the CSR is generated.

You need both public and private keys for the SSL certificate to work properly on any system. Windows uses the pkcs # 12 file (pfx / p12) to store these two keys and another intermediary certificate in the chain of trust chain. So if you want to transfer an SSL certificate from a Windows system to another system using a PFX file or store the certificate in another secure location, you need to create a pkcs # 12 backup (pfx / p12).
