# Lesson 4 – Line Drawing Command, Pline, Mline in Autocad

In the previous article, Taimienphi.vn introduced you to the Move, Copy, Erase, Explode commands in AutoCAD. The next article below Taimienphi.vn will introduce you the drawing commands of Line, Pline, Mline in AutoCAD.

Unlike other drawing commands in Autocad, Line drawing commands also provide limited options, including a Close option to create an additional segment from the first point you selected while running the current command and an option. Select Undo to delete the most recently drawn segment. You can repeat the Undo option when starting to run the current command.

Refer to the article AutuCad command including drawing commands Line, Pline, Mline in Autocad below of Taimienphi.vn to learn details of drawing commands in Autocad.

2. PLINE (Polyline) command in Autocad

In Autocad, Pline (Polyline) is a unique object consisting of lines or (and) arc segments.

What is the difference between Line and Pline drawing?

Pline is created by Line. We cannot select a segment of Pline without selecting the whole.

How to convert Pline to Line

In the image below, Polyline marked as first and Line marked as 2.

The steps to convert Pline to Line are quite simple, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Choose Pline.

Step 2: Click on the Explode icon as shown below.

To convert Line into Pline, we need to use the PEDIT command. The steps are much more complicated than converting Pline to Line.

Step 1: Import PEDIT then press Enter.

Step 2: Import M then press Enter.

Step 3: Select the object and press Enter.

Step 4: Hit Enter.

Step 5: Import J then press Enter.

Step 6: Hit Enter.

Step 7: Press Esc (Escape).

3. Order to draw Mline in Autocad

Autocad includes a rather strange command called MLINE that is used to draw multiline (lines). Multiline is the ideal solution for drawing walls in Autocad. Just style the wall through the MLSTYLE dialog, then draw the walls the same way you would draw a straight line.

Refer to the example below to learn how to use Mline in Autocad to draw walls.

There is a dialog box that you can access by right-clicking on Mline and selecting Multiline Edit or just entering the Mledit command. This dialog box allows you to choose the way you want to join Multiline.

The image below illustrates how 2 Mlines are connected but a bit confusing.

To clean up, make these junctions look cleaner, we use the Merged T intersection.
