What is PCI Driver?
PCI stands for phrase Peripheral Component Interconnect – roughly translated as Connecting peripheral components, is a standard for transferring data between peripheral devices to the motherboard. The PCI device you see in Device Manager determines the type of hardware that is plugged into the computer motherboard, such as PCI Simple Communications Controllers & PCI data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller (see picture 1). These are hardware devices that keep the PC functioning properly.
How to overcome the lack of PCI Driver on Windows 7, 8, 10
Note, the screenshots in the article are extracted on Windows 7, but all workarounds apply the same on Wins 8 & 10.
Method 1: Update PCI Driver via Device Manager
Exclamation mark “!” The yellow color beside problem devices is usually fixed by updating the appropriate driver.
Step 1: Press the logo key Windows + R at the same time, then type devmgmt.msc and press Enter.
Step 2: Visit the computer manufacturer’s website and search for the correct driver by the name shown below.
Method 2: Update PCI Driver manually
If you’re not sure about the manufacturer’s website, you can use the device’s ID to find the correct driver:
Step 1: Press the logo key Windows + R at the same time, then type devmgmt.msc and press Enter.
Step 2: Choose Other devices. Double click PCI Device.
Step 3: In the Details section, select Hardware Ids from the list.
Step 4: Copy the first hardware ID in the list
Step 5: Paste into search engine. Add some keywords like driver good computer operating system name.
Step 6: Download the appropriate driver in the list. Then, install the driver according to the vendor’s instructions.
Method 3: Update PCI Driver automatically
If you don’t have the time or lack the computer skills needed to update drivers manually, you can update the PCI Driver automatically with Driver Easy software. The program will automatically identify the system and find the correct driver.
Step 1: Download and install the software DriverEasy.
Step 2: Activate Driver Easy and click the button Scan Now. The software will then scan your computer and detect any missing or missing drivers.
Step 3: Press the button Update next to the PCI device name to automatically download and install the appropriate driver version (for both Free & Pro versions); or press Update All to automatically download and install the appropriate version for all missing or outdated drivers on your computer (Pro version only).
